To us, it was refreshing to experience something similar, yet better, in Germany. Legoland Germany had more attractions, more rides, more restaurants - and more things to do for kids aged 4 to 7 (several playgrounds, rides etc.). Consider staying a night or two in the nearby Legoland Feriendorf (or camp site), if you have the time.
Each ride in the park also incorporates a lot of LEGO models, and they can be good fun - plus squirting water at kids is always a laugh! If you want to buy a bunch of LEGO accessories (available no where else) and visit the 'biggest LEGO shop in the world' then it's also worth a trip.
Legoland can be done in a day. Remember when in Billund to also visit the Lego House (a whole day), Lalandia and WOW Park. There are plenty of other things to do in Jutland. 30 mins away is Vejle - visit the Økolariet ecology centre (which takes max. 2 hours) and you could also spend time at the Bredballestrand beach which is on the north side
